"The Alluring Repose" showcases the beauty and sensuality of a woman, yet leaves much to be interpreted. The viewer is left to determine within their own headspace what this woman is doing. For some, she may be resting after a long day of work or mothering. Others may imagine she is relaxing in a body of water, such as a bath or near a pool. For some it will become erotic, sensual or even sexual because in their own minds, this is what a woman is or should be. As a woman, I know that some innocent experiences are interpreted by others to hold far more meaning than they did in my reality. This painting showcases the myriad ways that women are interpreted by the minds of those they encounter.
